Neil Finn & Johnny Marr – “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out” (2001)

Wonderful cover of my favorite Smiths song.

Morrissey and Marr co-wrote at least a dozen songs I’d consider classics, but this one’s on another level. Although it was, by design, a perfect vehicle for Morrissey’s strengths and limitations, I think it’s also the one Smiths song that deserves a place amongst the Cole Porters and Bob Dylans.
